MBALE – In a significant move to bridge the digital divide for learners with disabilities, the National Council for Disability (NCD) has officially handed over a comprehensive suite of assistive technologies and ICT equipment to Mbale School for the Deaf. The donation, facilitated by the Uganda Communications Commission , through the council under the Uganda Communication Universal Service and Access Fund (UCUSAF) program, aims to transform the school into a premier regional hub for inclusive learning.

During the Month of June 2026, our team from the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD), led by the Program Manager Ms. Lillian Namukasa, convened a meeting with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Lira District and NUDIPU

 Resolution: To re-survey the land at both Ogulu and Onyakidi to ascertain the actual measurements. To work closely with the District to process land titling in the name of NCPD, in accordance with Section 18 of the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) Act, 2020.

In April 2026,  the National Council for Persons with Disabilities conducted a capacity-building session for lower councils of persons with disabilities in the Acholi sub-region. The engagement aimed at strengthening leadership, enhancing advocacy skills, and empowering local structures to effectively represent and address the needs of persons with disabilities within their communities.
