    Disability Inclusion in SDGs Dialogue, 2022.

    The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) & National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) established by Act of Parliament (Persons with Disabilities Act 2020) are mobilizing the Disability fraternity in Uganda for a one-day dialogue meeting to be held on 28th April 2022. The event is supported by the European Union and the German Cooperation through the GIZ Civil Society in Uganda Support Programme (CUSP). It aims at sharing and developing best strategies to inform disability inclusive implementation, localization, monitoring and reporting of SDGs in Uganda.

    Disability Inclusive Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Dialogue held 5th May 2022

    The Council to gather with Water Aid Uganda organized a Dialogue meeting to share information that was  generated through a rapid assessment that was conducted by NCPD and Sense International on the effects of COVID 19 on the lives of Persons with Disabilities in Uganda. Among the challenges identified during the study was limited access to WASH facilities and services yet it was the most needed service during the pic of the pandemic. The meeting was attended several stakeholders that include; Members of Parliament; Hon.

    Capacity Building and Orientation of District Council for Persons with Disabilities 16th-19th May 2022

    The Council in partnership with Sightsavers are organizing a capacity building and orientation workshop of the new District and City Councils for Persons with Disabilities in Sironko, Mbale, Iganga District and Mbale City and build the capacity of District and city council of Jinja. This engagement is under Inclusion works project that is implemented in a consortium between Sightsavers and ADD international whose purpose is to build capacity of Persons with Disabilities with employable skills and support them to secure employment.

    Elections for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)

    All Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), who are registered voters, are called upon to embrace and participate in the forthcoming elections of PWDs’ Committees from village to District level. These committees will form Electoral Colleges for election of representatives of PWDs to Local government Councils and Parliament during the 2016 General Elections. Exercise your civic rights.
